A fascinating and very lovely vintage ring in a perennially pretty floral design and showcasing a gorgeous and magical mauvey-lilac-blue Ceylon Sapphire framed with ten sparklesome brilliant-cut Diamonds set to the petals of the beautiful flower. Very special and charming, all is hand crafted with delicate touches to the shell-like shoulders and it dates we believe (as the band is of 9ct Gold) to the 1940's as in wartime the Utility rules meant there was rationing, including rationing of gold and only 9ct Gold was allowed for jewels. The unusual plump sq-oval shape of the Sapphire has dictated the cute shape of the whole ring and is sure sign that all is hand crafted. The setting to the gems is of Platinum and it is marked to the inside of the band with a retrospective 9ct hallmark. The hand faceted Sapphire measures at 8mm by 6mm and we calculate its weight at 1.55ct; the combined weight of the Diamonds at 0.30ct. The cluster measures 10mm by 13mm.
