A wonderful find, this pristine vintage 1930's Diamond trilogy ring is quite a splendid vision on the hand! A fascinating symmetry; the immensely glittery old hand cut Diamonds are set snugly together with the tiniest of milgrained Platinum bezels (Platinum is such a strong metal, which is why it is used for the setting). The gems are magical old European cuts, each with the uniquely beautiful faceting which is characteristic of this cut which melds the science of how light disperses through the Diamond and yet still reflects a little of the original shaping of the crystal and shows the skill of the cutter. Such giddying delight!
We have measured the stones at 0.35ct each using a Schindler gauge (and so a combined weight of around a carat), and they don't score well when comparing using the modern certification system (which was developed in the 1950's) as they have natural inclusions which formed millennia ago when the Diamonds formed (you can see these in our magnified photographs). However, for us it is the originality and unique beauty which we appreciate in old jewels such as this and hope to pass on this love to her new owner.
The mount of 18ct yellow Gold is hand made (under magnification even the saw marks are visible) and the raised coronet style is light and lovely with tiny latticework to the open gallery. A ring which will be coveted for it's unforgettable impact upon the hand, perfect as an engagement or anniversary ring. The ring size could easily be altered to suit, but measures at an 'R' or '8.75' as is.
